What Is the Criterion for Categorizing Different Types of Birth?
Do you think birth is always a sweet event, or sometimes it can lead to worry and even a negative family environment?
Of course, you agree that not every birth results in a healthy, beautiful baby. One reason for this is the different types of birth. Although every parent wants a healthy child, many babies are born with defects or inborn diseases. They face a lifetime of suffering and hardship due to their health problems. Being unable to see the beauty of this vast world, movement disabilities, heart problems, and other diseases and defects deprive them of the opportunity for a normal life and all the joys it brings.
Because of our familiarity with the material world we live in, we get so used to events around us and we fail to appreciate their wonder. We stated that the proportion between the mother’s womb ad the world also exists between the world and the hereafter. Therefore, by carefully examining the events that govern the movement of the fetus from the womb to the world, we can become aware of what we do not know about the hereafter. The most important event in the movement of the fetus from the womb to the world is ‘birth.’ It is the time when the fetus sees the results of his nine months of effort and confronts the outcome of his development in the womb. In fact, the fetus’s birth into the world is categorized based on his health and ability to answer the world’s questions.
These questions weigh the degree of the fetus’s compatibility with the living conditions of the world. These questions are asked right at the moment of birth and entering the world. These questions are in fact the tools that the fetus needs in order to have a comfortable life and benefit from the world’s resources. Based on the baby’s health, the world divides the newborn’s birth into one of the following six categories: robustly healthy, healthy, weak, sick, defective, and deformed.
Classification of the Types of Birth in the World
There is no doubt that we always dream of having a child born healthy or robustly healthy. In simple terms, a baby is healthy when his body is fully prepared for life in the living conditions of this world. A robustly healthy birth means our baby has not only the minimum conditions necessary to use the world’s resources, but he also has genius and special talents.
On the other hand, pain and disease in the baby indicate his body is not compatible with the living conditions of this world. Weak, sick, defective, and deformed births are the result of this lack of compatibility with the living conditions of the world. Depending on how severe his conditions are, his defects may be treated or may trouble him for the rest of his life. It may be challenging and require time and money to compensate for a weak or sick birth. However, defective and deformed births will not leave him until the end of his. This is because they are caused by a defect or deficiency in his biological organs or by an extra organ which he has brought into the world.
As we stated in the previous lessons, human life is a continuous and eternal process; each stage is influenced by the previous stage, and it affects the next one. In other words, our life in the mother’s womb, life in the world, and eternal life in the hereafter are all related to each other. We call this relationship the Law of Proportion. Our birth into this world is the result of a period of life in the womb. Similarly, the type of our birth and quality of our departure from this world and entering the hereafter determine what kind of life awaits us in that world.
In other words, the same types of birth into this world also exist with regards to the hereafter. That is, just as the types of birth into this world are divided into six categories, the quality of our departure from the world and birth into the hereafter are also divide into six groups: robustly healthy, healthy, weak, sick, defective, and deformed.
Properties of the Types of Birth in the Hereafter
Just as a fetus in his mother’s womb is constantly changing and growing, so our soul is also constantly making tools and preparing itself for birth into the hereafter in the womb of the world. We measure the health of this birth based on its compatibility with the living conditions of the hereafter and according to the soundness of the heart and soul. The daily growth and development of the fetus into a fully formed human being in the mother’s womb is the sign of his healthy birth. We are also constantly growing in the world, and we must acquire the abilities necessary for life in Barzakh.
In fact, if we have the necessary conditions for life in the hereafter and have all the necessary equipment with us, we will have a healthy or robustly healthy birth into the hereafter. Otherwise, our weak or sick birth into the hereafter will lead to years of delay in the hereafter and suffering the pain of treatment. The severity of this hardship and suffering depends on the type, number, and severity of the diseases. To have a limited understanding of this situation, it is enough to imagine an individual who not only suffers from cancer or heart failure, but he also faces difficulties in treating other diseases due to high blood pressure or diabetes. The situation of such an individual is certainly different from that of someone who is only suffering from high blood pressure.
People with defective or deformed birth in this world must indeed endure pain and hardships throughout their lives because of being incompatible with the conditions of this world. However, the conditions in this world are in no way the same as those we will face in our eternal life in the hereafter. A defective or deformed birth has no cure in the hereafter. It will not leave the individual due to the living characteristics of the hereafter. People with diseases of disbelief, hypocrisy, and polytheism will have defective or deformed birth. Nevertheless, it is clear that to have a sweet eternal life, we must prepare for a robustly healthy or healthy birth. That is because other types of birth will result in distressing and painful difficulties in the hereafter.
In this lesson, we discussed the types of birth in this world and then in the hereafter. We stated that the birth of a fetus into this world is divided into six types: robustly healthy, healthy, weak, sick, defective, and deformed. Each kind reflects the degree of the fetus’s health. The same types of birth also exist in our birth into the hereafter. We also mentioned that just as unhealthy birth into the world deprives the baby of the pleasure of a normal and enjoyable life, people who are born weak and sick into the hereafter must endure the painful and long-term hardships of treatment in the hereafter. The situation is even worse for those who enter the eternal realm of the hereafter with a defective or deformed birth.
