Our Deeds in the Womb of the World Are Similar to the Fetus’s Deeds in the Mother’s Womb
Have you ever searched for images of deformed babies with severe birth defects on the internet?
We do not expect you to have done so!
Seeing babies with hooves or tails instead of feet, being born with two heads or several extra arms and legs, etc., is very disturbing and heartbreaking. Few people have the courage to see such scenes. What is the difference between a healthy baby and a deformed one? What happens when one baby is born with a disease or birth defect and the other baby is healthy and without defects? Weren’t they both in the same conditions? Didn’t they both have nine months to use the resources of the womb for a healthy birth? Didn’t they both try and work hard during this time for tissue and organ development? So why has one’s efforts led to a healthy birth while the effort of the other has been in vain?
In the previous lessons, we explained the meaning of deed and stated that whatever we do with intention, knowledge, awareness, and free will is our deed. We also learned that our deeds shape our inward state. Our growth on the path of humanity or our deviation from it and going to heaven or hell solely depend on our deeds. In this lesson, we want to explain these same concepts using the Law of Proportion because, as we stated before, the Law of Proportion is the most important formula for understanding the hereafter. Without using this formula, we will have an incomplete and inefficient understanding of many of the features of the hereafter, including the role of deeds in our eternal destiny. Therefore, the most important questions that we will answer in the following are these:
- What is the meaning of “deed” in relation to a fetus?
- What are the fetus’s deeds in the mother’s womb?
- What are the similarities between human deeds in the womb of the world and the fetus’s deeds in the mother’s womb?
- What causes some people to be born healthy while others are born into the hereafter with defects and diseases?
The Meaning of Deed in Relation to the Fetus and the Fetus’s Deeds in the Mother’s Womb
From the moment that the egg is fertilized in the mother’s womb until the baby is born, it takes nine months. During this time, the fetus never rests even for a second and he is always doing deeds. That means he is constantly trying to acquire the assets necessary for worldly life and bring them to the world with himself.
The fetus’s deeds in the mother’s womb lead to the formation of different tissues and organs. These organs ultimately constitute the fetus’s assets at birth. The first asset that the fetus acquires in the third week of pregnancy is the heart. After that, the nervous system, brain, and spinal cord gradually form. In the fourth week, the ears, eyes, and eyelids are formed. After that, lung buds and then buds at the terminal end of the trachea appear. These deeds continue until the fetus acquires all the assets he needs to live in the world.
The fetus is accompanied by his own deeds in this world. Or to put it more accurately, the fetus is equivalent to his own deeds, and he is nothing but his deeds. In fact, deeds are not something to be attached to the fetus from the outside world, but basically, the fetus is formed and built as a result of his own deeds. If the fetus’s deeds in the mother’s womb are positive and constructive, the structure of the fetus’s body will be healthy. So he can live in the world without any trouble, and he can enjoy his resources. But if his deeds are wrong or if they are excessive or deficient, the fetus will be born with a disease or birth defect. For example, imagine that a fetus works hard for nine months, but he brings two heads with himself instead of one. Or imagine he uses all his energy and power to build legs but instead he makes a tail. It is true that he tries and works hard, but his efforts, or in other words, his deeds are not proportional to the conditions of the world. Therefore, instead of making his life easier and more enjoyable, they cause him trouble.
Our Deeds in the Womb of the World Are Like the Fetus’s Deeds in the Mother’s Womb
The world is our second womb, and in this world, we have the status of a fetus and must prepare ourselves for a healthy birth into the hereafter. Therefore, all the rules we mentioned about the fetus’s deeds in the mother’s womb apply to us. The difference is that the fetus shapes his body through his deeds while we shape our “soul” through our deeds.
Like the fetus, we are always doing deeds and never stop even for a moment. It may seem strange to you, but even when we rest and apparently do nothing, we are still doing some deeds and acquiring something to add to our soul. Even when we rest, all our senses are active, and we may see or hear things. Even if we succeed in turning off our senses, we cannot stop the flow of thought for a long time, and thoughts themselves are among the most important deeds that shape our soul and inward state. Our soul is active and makes acquisition even in sleep. This is because, as we have already learned, the soul is immaterial and does not sleep. It is our body that goes to sleep, not our soul.
In general, all the outputs and inputs of the soul constitute our deeds in the womb of the world. Everything that we see, smell, touch, all our thoughts and intentions, and all the things we do with different parts of our body are our deeds. In general, all our decisions, relationships, behaviors, and thoughts are part of our “deeds,” and each of them stores something in our souls, which can be positive and constructive or negative and destructive. In the end, the final structure of our soul is formed by these acquisitions and assets that we have acquired through our deeds.
We are born into the hereafter with our deeds, we are accompanied by our deeds, and we are rewarded or punished for our deeds. What remains of us and is transferred to the hereafter is our soul, and the structure of this soul is created and formed by our deeds. Our deeds in the womb of this world are our only asset in the hereafter. If they are not righteous and not compatible with the living condition of the hereafter, we will be born into the hereafter sick, or disabled and imperfect, depending on the amount of impurity and disruption that our soul has acquired. In the upcoming lessons, we will talk more about the types of birth into the hereafter, the relationship between deeds and acquisition, and the concept of righteous deeds.
