How and by Whom Is the Relation Between the Quran and Our Soul Clarified?
The relation between the Quran and our soul is special and unique. In previous lessons, we learned that because of our human and supra-rational dimension, we are the best of creations. In fact, all beings have been created based on our needs and dimensions of existence. The planet we live on, the galaxy we are in, plants, animals, seas, and everything around us have been created for us and have an existential relationship with us. However, the relation between the Quran and our soul is different and does not follow this rule. The Quran is not just a book in which God has written our needs and the necessary laws of life. The Quran is the written manifestation of God, and His names and attributes are fully manifested in it. In fact, it is our soul that is created based on the Quran, and all the laws governing our soul are in the Quran.
In life, there have probably been occasions where we have not utilized all the capacities or capabilities of a thing because of ignorance or negligence, or we may have used it for trivial purposes. Perhaps in many cases, we may not suffer much, but naturally, the more valuable and precious something is, the more harm we suffer if not using its capabilities and capacities. For example, if we use a meat tenderizer to drive a nail into a wall, no harm will be done. But if we use a smart and cutting-edge watch to do this, we will suffer loss.
However, regardless of the material and worldly loss, the harmful consequences of such negligence are short-term and limited. But sometimes we underestimate matters which, if ignored, will cost us our eternity. If we take the wrong path in knowing our soul or true self or a book that has been sent for our guidance, or even if we do not realize the importance of the relation between the Quran and our soul, this mistake will not be easily compensated for.
What Are the Results of Compatibility and Affinity with the Quran?
Every compatibility and relationship, whether positive or negative, brings about certain results. Certainly, someone who feels compatible with divine manifestations is not the same as someone who is attached to material things and manifestations of this world. In fact, because we have the supra-rational dimension, all of us have compatibility with the Quran or the divine word, which is a written manifestation of the names and attributes of God. However, this compatibility gets stronger or fades away depending on how we interpret ourselves and our lives. Since we are also the best of creations manifesting the names and attributes of God, in reality, the Quran is our truth. By getting closer to this truth, we get closer to the Absolute Perfect or the purpose of our creation.
Each verse of the Quran speaks about our true self and offers some guidance for the human dimension of our existence. The better we understand the inner reality (batin) of these verses and the more obedient we are to Quranic commands, the more divine light we will gain from the Quran. In fact, our value is measured by our belief in the Quranic verses, acting upon them, acquiring divine light through them, and becoming closer to our true self.
Reciting the Quran is not enough for us because our value in the hereafter is determined by how much the Quran has become interwoven with our essence and shaped who we are. Actually, we become more compatible with the Quran and closer to it when we use its guiding instructions to actualize more of God’s names and attributes and manifest them in us. However, our closeness to the purpose of our creation is to the extent that we bring ourselves closer to the Quran and get in harmony with its verses, or in other words, understand the relation between the Quran and our soul as an existential relation and strengthen it.
Can We Connect with the Quran on Our Own?
- Can we use the Quran or the book of our creation by ourselves?
- Is our material intellect and limited knowledge able to interpret the Quran, acquire and extract the divine names and attributes, or in simple words, discover the truth of the Quran?
- Do we have the ability to extract Quranic laws that govern our soul?
- Do we know the essence of the levels our soul and the way it has been designed to be able to discover the relation between the Quran and our soul?
The truth is that our limited intellect is not able to know the different dimensions of our existence. It does not know where it has come from, or where it is going, and it even finds compatibility with the Quran surprising. Thus, to use the Quran as the most complete, specialized, and comprehensive book available to humanity, we definitely need help and guidance, but not guidance at our own level of knowledge.
If our guide is supposed to be like us with a limited and material intellect and cannot provide a comprehensive view of our position, origin, and destination, he will get us nowhere. The Quran has indeed come to guide us, but we humans cannot understand the relation between the Quran and our soul and achieve the purpose of our creation without an infallible role model sent by our Creator. In fact, without this expert guidance, the Quran is like an encrypted treasure chest that we will not be able to use.
We need an infallible expert to discover the laws of the Quran and the laws that govern our existence. This expert must have divine knowledge and comprehensive information about the mathematics and the levels of our soul and a full command of the Quran. This infallible expert must be a perfect manifestation of the divine names and attributes and be able to bring us closer to the purpose of our creation based on the relation between the Quran and our soul. In fact, without these experts, who are the divine prophets and infallible Imams, we are not able to interpret and use the Quran and cannot understand the relation between the Quran and our soul.
In this article, we stated that the relation between the Quran and our soul is a different relation, and our soul has been created based on the Quran. We are not able to know the Quran and discover its connection to the structure and truth of our soul on our own. The Quran is our truth, but we need an infallible expert to know, interpret, and explain it, someone who has comprehensive knowledge about the dimensions of our existence, the secrets of the Quran, and their relationship. These infallible experts are the divine prophets and infallible Imams.
