اللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدِكَ وَرَسُولِكَ، وَأَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ الطَّاهِرِينَ
O Allah, send Your blessings upon Muhammad, Your servant and messenger, and upon his pure household,
وَاخْصُصْهُمْ بِأَفْضَلِ صَلَوَاتِكَ، وَرَحْمَتِكَ وَبَرَكَاتِكَ وَسَلَامِكَ
And single them out for the best of Your blessings, mercy, grace, and peace.
وَاخْصُصِ اللّٰهُمَّ وَالِدَيَّ بِالْكَرَامَةِ لَدَيْكَ، وَالصَّلَاةِ مِنْكَ، یَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِینَ
And, O Allah, bestow honor upon my parents in Your sight and send blessings upon them, O Most Merciful of the merciful
اللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ، وَأَلْهِمْنِي عِلْمَ مَا يَجِبُ لَهُمَا عَلَيَّ إِلْهَاماً
O Allah, bless Muhammad and his Household, and inspire me with a deep understanding of all that I owe to them.
وَاجْمَعْ لِي عِلْمَ ذَلِكَ كُلِّهِ تَمَاماً، ثُمَّ اسْتَعْمِلْنِي بِمَا تُلْهِمُنِي مِنْهُ
Let me comprehend all of it completely, then enable me to act upon what You have inspired me to know.
وَوَفِّقْنِي لِلنُّفُوذِ فِيمَا تُبَصِّرُنِي مِنْ عِلْمِهِ، حَتَّى لَا يَفُوتَنِي اسْتِعْمَالُ شَيْءٍ عَلَّمْتَنِيهِ
Grant me success to apply the knowledge You enlighten me with, so I miss no opportunity to practice what You have taught me.
وَلَا تَثْقُلَ أَرْكَانِي عَنِ الْحُفُوفِ فِيمَا أَلْهَمْتَنِيهِ
And let my limbs not grow weary or slow in fulfilling the duties You have inspired me.
اللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ كَمَا شَرَّفْتَنَا بِهِ
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and his Household, just as You honored us through him,
وَصَلِّ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ كَمَا أَوْجَبْتَ لَنَا الْحَقَّ عَلَی الْخَلْقِ بِسَبَبِهِ
And bless Muhammad and his Household, just as through him You established our rightful claim upon all creation.
اللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي أَهَابُهُمَا هَيْبَةَ السُّلْطَانِ الْعَسُوفِ، وَأَبَرُّهُمَا بِرَّ الْأُمِّ الرَّؤُوفِ
O Allah, instill in me such reverence for them as one would have before a stern ruler, and such compassion for them as the kindest mother.
وَاجْعَلْ طَاعَتِي لِوَالِدَيَّ، وَبِرِّي بِهِمَا أَقَرَّ لِعَيْنِي مِنْ رَقْدَةِ الْوَسْنَانِ، وَأَثْلَجَ لِصَدْرِي مِنْ شَرْبَةِ الظَّمْآنِ
Make my obedience to them more soothing than restful sleep and more refreshing to my chest than cool water to the thirsty,
حَتَّى أُوثِرَ عَلَی هَوَايَ هَوَاهُمَا، وَأُقَدِّمَ عَلَی رِضَايَ رِضَاهُمَا
until I come to prefer their desires over mine, and place their pleasure before my own.
وَأَسْتَكْثِرَ بِرَّهُمَا بِي وَإِنْ قَلَّ، وَأَسْتَقِلَّ بِرِّي بِهِمَا وَإِنْ كَثُرَ
And may I consider even their smallest kindness toward me as great, while regarding my greatest service to them as insignificant.
اللّٰهُمَّ خَفِّضْ لَهُمَا صَوْتِي، وَأَطِبْ لَهُمَا كَلَامِي
O Allah, lower my voice before them, and make my speech gentle and pleasing for them.
وَأَلِنْ لَهُمَا عَرِيكَتِي، وَأَعْطِفْ عَلَيْهِمَا قَلْبِي، وَصَيِّرْنِي بِهِمَا رَفِيقاً، وَعَلَيْهِمَا شَفِيقاً
Soften my temperament toward them, incline my heart with compassion for them, and turn me into their kind companion, their loving friend!
اللّٰهُمَّ اشْكُرْ لَهُمَا تَرْبِيَتِي، وَأَثِبْهُمَا عَلَى تَكْرِمَتِي، وَاحْفَظْ لَهُمَا مَا حَفِظَاهُ مِنِّي فِي صِغَرِي
O Allah, reward them for my upbringing, reward them for the honor they showed me, and preserve for them the good they did for me in my childhood.
اللّٰهُمَّ وَمَا مَسَّهُمَا مِنِّي مِنْ أَذًى، أَوْ خَلَصَ إِلَيْهِمَا عَنِّي مِنْ مَكْرُوهٍ
O Allah, whatever harm I may have caused them, or distress they have endured on my account,
أَوْ ضَاعَ قِبَلِي لَهُمَا مِنْ حَقٍّ، فَاجْعَلْهُ حِطَّةً لِذُنُوبِهِمَا، وَعُلُوّاً فِي دَرَجَاتِهِمَا، وَزِيَادَةً فِي حَسَنَاتِهِمَا
or for every right of theirs that I have neglected, make it a means for the forgiveness of their sins, the elevation of their ranks, and the increase of their good deeds,
يَا مُبَدِّلَ السَّيِّئَاتِ بِأَضْعَافِهَا مِنَ الْحَسَنَاتِ
O He who exchanges sins for multiplied virtues.
اللّٰهُمَّ وَمَا تَعَدَّيَا عَلَيَّ فِيهِ مِنْ قَوْلٍ، أَوْ أَسْرَفَا عَلَيَّ فِيهِ مِنْ فِعْلٍ
O Allah, if ever they overstepped in word against me, or exceeded limits in action toward me,
أَوْ ضَيَّعَاهُ لِي مِنْ حَقٍّ، أَوْ قَصَّرَا بِي عَنْهُ مِنْ وَاجِبٍ، فَقَدْ وَهَبْتُهُ لَهُمَا، وَجُدْتُ بِهِ عَلَيْهِمَا
or if there is any right of mine which they have neglected, or obligation toward me in which they have fallen short, (I have pardoned them), I grant it to them and bestow it upon them.
وَرَغِبْتُ إِلَيْكَ فِي وَضْعِ تَبِعَتِهِ عَنْهُمَا، فَإِنِّي لَا أَتَّهِمُهُمَا عَلَي نَفْسِي
I ask You to remove the burden of that from them, for I do not hold them guilty for anything concerning me,
وَلَا أَسْتَبْطِؤُهُمَا فِي بِرِّي، وَلَا أَكْرَهُ مَا تَوَلَّيَاهُ مِنْ أَمْرِي
Nor do I consider them slow to show kindness to me, nor am I displeased with how they treated me.
یَا رَبِّ، فَهُمَا أَوْجَبُ حَقّاً عَلَيَّ، وَأَقْدَمُ إِحْسَاناً إِلَيَّ
O my Lord, truly their right over me is greater than my right over them, and their kindness toward me came long before (any deed of mine toward them).
وَأَعْظَمُ مِنَّةً لَدَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أُقَاصَّهُمَا بِعَدْلٍ، أَوْ أُجَازِيَهُمَا عَلَی مِثْلٍ
Their favor upon me is too immense to repay with justice, or to requite with deeds equal to what they have done for me.
أَيْنَ إِذًا یَا إِلَهِي طُولُ شُغْلِهِمَا بِتَرْبِيَتِي؟ وَأَيْنَ شِدَّةُ تَعَبِهِمَا فِي حِرَاسَتِي؟ وَأَيْنَ إِقْتَارُهُمَا عَلَی أَنْفُسِهِمَا لِلتَّوْسِعَةِ عَلَيَّ؟
O my Beloved! If I do this, what will become of the long time they spent raising me, the hard work they endured in caring for me, and all the sacrifices they made to ensure my well-being?
هَيْهَاتَ! مَا يَسْتَوْفِيَانِ مِنِّي حَقَّهُمَا، وَلَا أُدْرِكُ مَا يَجِبُ عَلَيَّ لَهُمَا، وَلَا أَنَا بِقَاضٍ وَظِيفَةَ خِدْمَتِهِمَا
Never could I fully repay their rights upon me, nor ever fulfill the obligation I owe them. I am incapable of discharging the duty of serving them as they deserve.
فَصَلِّ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ، وَأَعِنِّي يَا خَيْرَ مَنِ اسْتُعِينَ بِهِ، وَوَفِّقْنِي يَا أَهْدَى مَنْ رُغِبَ إِلَيْهِ
So bless Muhammad and his Household, and assist me—O best of those who are sought for aid—and Give me success—O most guiding of those to whom people turn.
وَلَا تَجْعَلْنِي فِي أَهْلِ الْعُقُوقِ لِلْآبَاءِ وَالْأُمَّهَاتِ، يَوْمَ تُجْزَى كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ، وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ
And do not include me among the disobedient toward their fathers and mothers on the Day when every soul shall be repaid for what it has earned, and none shall be wronged.
اللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ وَذُرِّيَّتِهِ، وَاخْصُصْ أَبَوَيَّ بِأَفْضَلِ مَا خَصَصْتَ بِهِ آبَاءَ عِبَادِكَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَأُمَّهَاتِهِمْ، يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ
O Allah, bless Muhammad, his Household, and his progeny, and grant my parents the finest of all that You have bestowed upon the fathers and mothers among Your believing servants, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
اللّٰهُمَّ لَا تُنْسِنِي ذِكْرَهُمَا فِي أَدْبَارِ صَلَوَاتِي، وَفِي إِنيٍّ مِنْ آنَاءِ لَيْلِي، وَفِي كُلِّ سَاعَةٍ مِنْ سَاعَاتِ نَهَارِي
O Allah, never let me forget them in the moments after my prayers, throughout the hours of my nights, and in every hour of my days.
اللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ، وَاغْفِرْ لِي بِدُعَائِي لَهُمَا، وَاغْفِرْ لَهُمَا بِبِرِّهِمَا بِي مَغْفِرَةً حَتْماً
O Allah, bless Muhammad and his Household, and forgive me through my supplication for my parents. And forgive them, for the kindness and care they gave me—with a forgiveness that is certain.
وَارْضَ عَنْهُمَا بِشَفَاعَتِي لَهُمَا رِضىً عَزْماً، وَبَلِّغْهُمَا بِالْكَرَامَةِ مَوَاطِنَ السَّلَامَةِ
Be fully pleased with them through my intercession for them, and admit them with honor into the abodes of safety and peace.
اللّٰهُمَّ وَإِنْ سَبَقَتْ مَغْفِرَتُكَ لَهُمَا، فَشَفِّعْهُمَا فِيَّ، وَإِنْ سَبَقَتْ مَغْفِرَتُكَ لِي، فَشَفِّعْنِي فِيهِمَا
O Allah, if Your forgiveness has already reached them before me, then let them intercede for me. And if Your forgiveness has reached me first, then make me their intercessor,
حَتَّى نَجْتَمِعَ بِرَأْفَتِكَ فِي دَارِ كَرَامَتِكَ، وَمَحَلِّ مَغْفِرَتِكَ وَرَحْمَتِكَ
so that, through Your compassion, we may all be reunited in the abode of Your honor, and the station of Your forgiveness and mercy.
إِنَّكَ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ، وَالْمَنِّ الْقَدِيمِ، وَأَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Truly, You are the Possessor of great bounty, eternal grace, and the Most Merciful of the Merciful.
