Qararin Makeen: The Key to a Healthy Otherworldly Birth and the Growth of the Soul
Every fetus in the mother’s womb goes through a delicate biological process. The quality of this process determines the baby’s health when they are born. If the womb is not a safe, protected, and adequately nourishing environment, the newborn may suffer permanent harm. This biological fact reflects a deeper truth about our existence. Just as a womb prepares a physical body, this world acts as a womb for our “eternal identity.” The transition from this life to the afterlife follows the same logic of birth. In this process, a Qararin Makeen (secure resting place) is essential. Without settling in this firm abode, spiritual growth becomes disordered, and the emergence of existential defects in the hereafter becomes inevitable.
The Necessity of Qararin Makeen in the Context of Otherworldly Birth
By comparing physical birth to our journey toward the hereafter, we can identify six types of spiritual birth: healthy, robustly healthy, weak, sick, defective, and deformed. These states depend entirely on the quality of a person’s life in the womb of the world. A robustly healthy birth or a healthy birth means the soul has gathered all the necessary factors within this world to survive in the next. Without these pillars, the soul faces a sick or a defective birth.
In this process, the Qararin Makeen is what protects a person from the harms of growth. The Quran states: “Then We made him as a drop of (seminal) fluid (lodged) in a secure abode” [1]. This shows that for a drop to develop into a complete creation, it must be in a safe environment. This secure place acts as a vessel that protects the soul from environmental turbulence that could cause corruption or abnormal growth. If a person fails to settle in this safe abode during their worldly life, their growth will halt. Instead of their inner potential flourishing, it will be wasted on deviant paths.
Why Growth Depends on Settlement
Human beings are inherently vulnerable. Just as a fetus needs a womb to protect it from external pressure, the human soul needs a ground in this world to protect its identity from the chaos of life and environmental changes. Even if a person grows up in a wealthy or favorable environment, they can still suffer structural harm if they lack this firm foundation. True human health does not come from external circumstances, but from one’s internal connection to this Qararin Makeen.
Failing to find or settle into this proper abode means missing the golden opportunity for growth. This failure leads to a “spiritual miscarriage” or a birth marked by otherworldly illnesses. In fact, many wrong paths and deviant behaviors in this life happen because a person has left their firm abode and exposed themselves to spiritual harm. The first step to finding this sanctuary is answering the most fundamental question: “Why was I created?” Understanding this purpose is the beginning of the settlement process in that safe abode.
Lifestyle: Managing the Womb of the World
The best way to ensure a healthy otherworldly birth is to manage one’s “lifestyle.” In this context, lifestyle is how we regulate the conditions of our otherworldly womb. To achieve this, one must build a Qararin Makeen for the soul. This means consciously organizing our choices, relationships, behaviors, and thoughts so that our spiritual state remains steady. If faith is not firmly settled, it will erode and perish when faced with the difficulties of life.
Therefore, a person must design their lifestyle around preserving and stabilizing their faith. Any change in lifestyle that weakens this settlement creates insecurity for the “spiritual fetus”—which is the sound heart. This is the key difference between a meaningful life based on human values and other approaches. While other lifestyles might provide worldly comfort, only a lifestyle that builds a safe abode guarantees a healthy eternal life. From this perspective, every action we take is a biological act for the next world, either strengthening the sound heart or driving us toward eternal disability.
The Imam of the Time Ensures the Ultimate Secure Existential Environment
In the final analysis of this existential system, there is a missing link. Without it, the process of otherworldly growth remains incomplete: the connection between the human being and the Imam of the Time (Peace be upon him). The Imam is not just a guide; he is the essential “existential womb” where a person must reside. Without this connection, no one can truly say they have settled in a Qararin Makeen. The crucial point is that without the Imam of the Time (Peace be upon him), one cannot truly realize Allah as their deity. In other words, a relationship with God requires a means through which His grace can reach humanity.
We must first look inward and rebuild our connection with the Imam of our Time. This means opening our hearts and minds to his spiritual guidance and teachings. Without this, no matter how much worship or good works we perform, we remain spiritually vulnerable—like a newborn without protection. The Imam of the Age (Imam Mahdi) acts as the Qararin Makeen for our soul, providing a safe environment for growth and preventing our potential from being wasted on wrong paths. Ultimately, all the challenges of this life lead to one question: “Have we sought refuge in this existential womb?” The answer determines our spiritual well-being at the moment we cross into the Barzakh (the intermediate realm).
Conclusion
A healthy birth into the hereafter is not by accident; it is the direct result of how well we live in this life. Every step of growth—from understanding our purpose to reforming our lifestyle and connecting with the Imam of the Age—follows one single logic: the necessity of entering this Qararin Makeen. This settlement is the only way to prevent a sick birth in the eternal realm. In this life, we are essentially a “sound heart” whose eternal destiny depends on the quality of our worldly womb. Anything that pulls us away from this safe place leads toward destruction or existential harm. In the end, only those who understand this system and organize their lives around this settlement can hope for a robustly healthy birth in the hereafter—entering eternal life healthy, perfect, and strong.
